Sara Ramirez, known for her role as Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy, recently came out publicly as bisexual. She initially hesitated due to fears of discrimination, especially within the LGBTQ community. However, two years ago, she felt an urgent need to use her platform to empower the LGBTQ community, prompted by incidents like the Pulse nightclub shooting. She came out at the 40 to None Summit and wanted to inspire LGBTQ youth to embrace their identities.
Prior to going public, she shared her truth with close friends, who were supportive. Sara is grateful for her privileges and hopes to make a difference through her work. She is currently married to Ryan DeBolt and stars on Madam Secretary.
